a little note to my little girl

Your nerves are almost wrecking us. Just two more nights and your Big Day is finally there.
You have been waiting for it for weeks, even got sleepless nights and the photoshoot was a hell and a blast at one time, with batteries unloaded, you whining and then finally both finding fun in the nature in the Netherlands.. The fountain whistled some sprinkles of joy on your face and I finally got the real you in my pictures...
It's all ready: the house is almost cleaned up, your Big Surprise (oh! how I love to tease you with hints and tips that don't say a thing!!!) is ready and... the little booklet to keep your pictures in it, so people can choose freely the memory they want of you, without smuddering the pics with their fingerprints, is ready too.
You wanted your booklet rough and tough, with dino's and chinese characters, no pink or girly stuff... but I am a MOM, you know, and moms love little girls with girly accents.
I am sorry, I did not live up to your expectations of the booklet: I think I got all into nostalgia and tears and thoughts of your beautiful moment to come. BUT! The dino and chinese characters are somewhere in your booklet.
And you may punish me, but the little pink rose was just pleading to be put on it.
(luckily, the other night, you said: oh! I love it!! Too bad for that little pink, but it's okay, mum, it's not waaaaayyyy too pink!)

Je zenuwen maken zelfs ons bijna kapot. Slechts twee nachtjes zijn we verwijderd van je eerste communie en tjonge, wat heb je dààr naar uitgekeken!! Wekenlang uitkijken, slapeloze nachten, fotosessies maken met onopgeladen batterijen, jij met een boos gezicht en dan uiteindelijk de juiste plaats vinden in de Hollandse polders met een fontein die vrolijkheid en ondeugendheid in je fluisterde zodat ik eindelijk je echte JIJ in beeld kreeg..
We zijn bijna klaar: het huis is bijna spic en span, je Grote Verrassing (oh! en wat hou ik ervan jou te plagen met hints en tips die nietszeggend zijn!!) is af en... het kleine mapje waarin je je communiefoto's kan bewaren zodat de mensen tijdens het kiezen niet overal hun vingerafdrukken achterlaten, is ook af!
Je eisen waren hoog: het moest stoer en avontuurlijk zijn, met dinosaurussen en chinese tekens, geen roze of andere meisjesprullerij... maar ik ben een MOEKE en moekes houden nu eenmaal van meisjes met meisjesspulletjes.
Dus sorry dat ik niet aan je verwachtingen kon voldoen met het mapje: ik werd zo melancholisch en ontroerd door de gedachte aan je eerste communie.. MAAR! De dino en de chinese tekens zitten wél ergens in je boekje verstopt!
En ja, ik verdien terecht een straf, maar het kleine roze roosje keek zo lief naar mij...
(gelukkig zei je gisteravond: oh, moeke, zo mooi!!! wel spijtig van dat roze roosje, maar gelukkig is het niet àl te roze!)
